
Barton Gilman LLP has expanded its corporate and transactional capabilities with the addition of partner Benjamin Rackliffe and associate Paige Macnie. Ben and Paige bring significant experience advising middle-market businesses, investors, nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurs on complex corporate, transactional, and regulatory matters.
Ben is a trusted advisor to closely held and middle-market businesses across a wide range of industries, including renewable energy, technology, construction, commercial real estate development, manufacturing, healthcare, and cannabis. He counsels clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, strategic growth initiatives, regulatory compliance, financing arrangements, and sophisticated business transactions.

Ben has represented publicly traded companies, quasi-public entities, institutional clients, developers, contractors, and emerging businesses throughout New England. He is particularly well known for his work in the renewable energy and cannabis industries, where he advises clients on licensing, compliance, financing, operational issues, and transactional matters in rapidly evolving regulatory landscapes.
His representative experience includes serving as lead transactional counsel in significant M&A matters, advising institutional clients on renewable energy financing and net-metering arrangements, and representing cannabis operators in multi-jurisdictional business and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Barton Gilman, Ben practiced for more than 15 years at a Rhode Island-based law firm, focusing on corporate and nonprofit law, mergers and acquisitions, and complex business transactions. Earlier in his career, he served as in-house counsel to a diversified land development and hospitality company. He has also served as a long-time Special Lecturer in corporate law for Providence College’s School of Business.
Paige focuses her practice on corporate transactions, business counseling, and regulatory compliance matters. She advises clients on a range of business and operational issues, including corporate governance, compliance matters, and strategic transactions. In addition to her corporate practice, Paige represents clients in commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining Barton Gilman, she practiced at a Rhode Island-based law firm for five years, where she gained experience handling a broad range of business and litigation matters.
