Trusted Advisor. Proven Advocate.
A results-driven attorney who approaches challenges with a flexible and positive mindset, Brendan joined the firm in 2024. He has significant litigation experience and focuses his practice on medical malpractice and insurance defense. The clients he represents are typically healthcare providers, in addition to medical and nursing professionals. While the cases he handles are all quite different, the majority involve allegations of professional negligence. Brendan has argued numerous pre-trial motions in both state and federal courts and is experienced with depositions, mediations and settlement negotiations.

In addition to his litigation work, Brendan has experience with a variety of transactional matters, including drafting, evaluating and negotiating contracts. He also has experience advising clients on corporate matters including business formation and structure, contracts and litigation issues.

Prior to joining Barton Gilman, Brendan practiced at a multi-service Rhode Island law firm and handled all stages of civil litigation in a range of areas including corporate disputes, business torts, class actions and commercial issues. He also defended clients in administrative proceedings brought by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Currently serving on the Board of Directors for RI Elder Info, Brendan’s experience allows him to provide a unique perspective to clients.
