Kristen Whittle named Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly Up & Coming Lawyer

Kristen M. Whittle has been named by Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly as a 2019 Up & Coming Lawyer in its inaugural Excellence in the Law Awards.

The awards honor excellence in all areas of the Rhode Island legal community, with the Up & Coming Lawyers category focusing on attorneys who have distinguished themselves in the practice of law, yet have been practicing and admitted to the Rhode Island Bar for 10 years or less.

Kristen is a partner at Barton Gilman and an experienced civil litigator who focuses her practice on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, employment law, and products liability litigation. She actively practices in the courts of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. In addition to her litigation work, Kristen regularly advises employers on all aspects of the employment relationship—from hiring through separation—and she frequently reviews and revises personnel policies and handbooks.

Kristen serves on the Advisory Committee for the Roger Williams University School of Law’s Pro Bono Collaborative, where she coordinates the firm’s pro bono activities in working with Bradley Hospital’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, advising parents of disabled children turning 18 on legal matters. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Counseling Center of Rhode Island.

In the legal community, Kristen serves on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association. She has been named in the 40 Under Forty by Providence Business News, and a Rhode Island Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2013.
