Barton Gilman Elevates Kristen Whittle to Partner

BOSTON/PROVIDENCE (Jan. 5, 2017) – Barton Gilman, a leading New England civil litigation law firm, elevated Kristen M. Whittle to partner on January 1, 2017.

Whittle is an experienced civil litigator who focuses her practice on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, employment law, and products liability litigation. She actively practices in the courts of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. In addition to her litigation work, Whittle regularly advises employers on all aspects of the employment relationship—from hiring through separation. She devotes a significant portion of her practice to assisting clients in the nonprofit and small business communities, and she coordinates the firm’s pro bono activities with the Roger Williams University School of Law’s Pro Bono Collaborative.

Prior to joining the firm, Whittle served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. William P. Robinson, III of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. An experienced public speaker, she has conducted seminars on employment law, health care law, and emerging insurance coverage issues. Since 2013, Whittle has been a regular contributor to the Rhode Island Small Business Journal’s “Personnel Practices” article series, highlighting legal issues facing Rhode Island employers. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association and is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Counseling Center of Rhode Island.
